SIGNALSHIELD FIELD ADD-ONS

Five optional ways to extend the field system.

SignalShield has three core display models. Camera 2, Central Command, Satellite Link Module 1, the SS-CH2/24 charger and the Venue Pedestrian Package extend visibility, supervision, rural reach, battery readiness and venue guidance without becoming additional traffic-control models.

Separate Responder 4 pedestrian-wayfinding software

SignalShield Venue Pedestrian Package

A separate software add-on that configures Responder 4 as a multi-sided venue guide. Give each installed face its own pedestrian, shuttle, parking or rideshare direction while keeping vehicle signals under the traffic-control system.

4 facesOne physical Responder 4
Venue onlyDedicated informational directions
Separate appStandalone software prototype

Best-fit uses

  • Stadium and arena arrival and egress
  • Concerts, festivals and fairgrounds
  • Shuttle and rideshare pickup routes
  • Campus and exhibition pedestrian guidance

Prototype capabilities

  • One to four venue-wayfinding faces on the existing Responder 4
  • Arrival and egress presets with individual face assignments
  • Fixed, versioned message catalog and reviewed plan application
  • Portable plan files and an operator request log
  • Request-only PedCall workflow; no crossing or traffic-release authority

The standalone prototype provides a local controller and display preview. Native tablet enrollment, field communications and physical PedCall integration are not yet implemented. Venue directions never authorize crossing; traffic signals remain separately controlled. The existing mast, shared base and displays are retained.

SignalShield Camera 2 with opposed fixed cameras and a compact PTZ head on the shared stabilized baseOPTIONAL MONITORING ADD-ON
Dual-direction support camera node

SignalShield Camera 2

A dedicated support node that replaces the display head with two opposed fixed roadway cameras and one compact PTZ camera. Planned 5G/LTE or optional Satellite Link Module backhaul can carry selected video and health telemetry while encrypted local recording preserves evidence through outages.

Dual-SIMCarrier-failover design
5G + LTESub-6 wide-area backhaul
Outbound onlyProtected sessions; no public device port

Best-fit uses

  • Alternating-lane work-zone observation
  • Entry, exit and lane-occupancy counting
  • Incident-scene and perimeter monitoring
  • Temporary intersection overview
  • Special-event traffic supervision
  • Remote snapshots and evidence bookmarks

Concept features

  • Two opposed fixed roadway cameras
  • Compact centered PTZ camera for operator observation
  • 78-inch three-stage round mast on the 36 × 36-inch shared open base
  • Two removable 24 V / 20 Ah LiFePO4 batteries
  • Planned dual-SIM sub-6 5G/LTE with optional SLM-1 satellite fallback
  • Outbound-only encrypted command, telemetry and video sessions
  • Encrypted local recording with store-and-forward after link recovery
  • Central health, link, battery and storage monitoring
  • Vision may inhibit or extend all-red; it can never authorize GREEN
SignalShield Central Command operations center displaying several deployment groups and camera feedsPROTECTED MULTI-GROUP OPERATIONS ADD-ON
Protected multi-group operations software

SignalShield Central Command

A protected supervisory dashboard for agencies and fleet operators monitoring several SignalShield deployment groups over planned 5G/LTE or optional satellite backhaul. It consolidates group status, unit health, camera feeds and alerts while each field group's local controller retains traffic-movement authority.

5G + satellitePlanned controlled wide-area paths
Camera wallGrouped fixed, PTZ and tablet feeds
ProtectedSign-in and operator allowlist

Best-fit uses

  • Agency operations centers supervising multiple active scenes
  • Work-zone fleets with several grouped deployments
  • Emergency-operations and special-event coordination
  • Central review of Camera 2 and installed-side video feeds
  • Remote unit-health and communications triage

Operational capabilities

  • Several deployment groups visible in one protected workspace
  • Consolidated camera tiles with source, freshness and confidence state
  • Per-unit battery, link, heartbeat and camera health
  • Prioritized alerts, acknowledgements and event history
  • Cellular-first routing with an optional SLM-1 rural satellite path
  • Outbound device tunnels with per-unit identity and short-lived command leases
  • Planned remote plan, sign, camera and movement requests validated at the field group
  • All-red hold requests routed to the local group controller
  • Authenticated access with an explicit command-operator allowlist
  • No direct GREEN authority; local safety logic remains authoritative

Central Command is designed to supervise, steer Camera 2 and submit bounded plan, sign, stop and movement requests through a planned wide-area path. It cannot force GREEN or bypass topology, clearance, health, timing and command-lease checks enforced by the local group controller.

SS-CH2/24 · Dual-bay spare-battery charger

SignalShield Dual-Bay Charger

A lockable, charge-only accessory for two removable 24 V / 20 Ah professional-platform battery carriers. Its two isolated charging bays prepare spare packs for Responder 4 and WorkZone 2 while keeping loose battery leads out of the field workflow.

2 baysIndependent charge channels
960 WhTwo nominal 480 Wh packs
120 VacSingle locking input

Best-fit uses

  • Depot and equipment-room battery rotation
  • Staging spare packs before extended deployments
  • Mobile field-support and maintenance operations
  • Multi-unit fleet readiness

Preliminary features

  • Two independent 29.2 V / 4 A charge channels
  • Approximately five-hour target charge time per 24 V / 20 Ah pack
  • Single locking 120 Vac input with optional current-limited vehicle kit
  • Guarded front-load docks with latch and pack-presence checks
  • Temperature, polarity, voltage and reverse-current protection
  • 15.5 × 14 × 12-inch preliminary enclosure target
  • Charge-only isolation: no UPS, pass-through or live stand-power function

Current compatibility is limited to the removable professional-platform packs used by Responder 4 and WorkZone 2. Roadside 1 is outside this charger configuration.

DEVELOPMENT BOUNDARY

Add-ons remain controlled development products.

Camera 2 monitoring, 5G/LTE radio integration, SLM-1 satellite integration and SS-CH2/24 electrical performance, enclosure ingress, thermal behavior and field procedures require prototype qualification, FCC review and safety testing. Central Command currently demonstrates its workflow with simulated operations data; production cellular and satellite integration also requires provider acceptance plus agency security, privacy, retention and network approval. The charger is not a UPS, pack balancer, external power supply or live stand-power source. Patent-pending status is not assigned to the SS-CH2/24 accessory unless a separate scope review authorizes it.
